Join us in the run up to St. Patrick’s Day as we visit the Chester Beatty library and museum in Dublin, where Dr. Mary Redfern will draw on the Beatty’s collection to introduce us to a set of Japanese scrolls that illuminate storytelling in a remarkable way.
From literary masterpieces to valiant adventures, the stories that play out in Japanese handscrolls continue to engage and delight. Dr. Redfern’s richly illustrated talk will examine the methods of this art with reference to celebrated works in the Chester Beatty’s collection – each poised to unfurl into a glittering world of wonder.
Dr. Redfern is the East Asian Curator at the Chester Beatty. She holds degrees from the Universities of Edinburgh, Leicester, and East Anglia and has curated Asian and East Asian collections at the Victoria and Albert as well as at the National Museum of Scotland.
So for this midday meeting, why not grab a Guinness, order in some sushi, and join us for the perfect pairing. Register today!
Zoom presentation is free and open to all.
