Renate Mesmer will talk about the Folger’s recent renovation and the challenges and improvements of such an undertaking.
Renate Mesmer, Conservator for the Folger Shakespeare Library will provide an overview of the preparations made for the Folger’s First Folios and other collections before, during, and after a multi-year renovation project. What do you do with a 300,000-item collection when new HVAC systems are installed, new storage shelving is added, and the exhibition space is tripled? After more than four years of closure and renovation, the Folger’s 82 First Folios are now on display for the first time.
