Thick Love or None at All: Toni Morrison on Love

This is the year of Toni Morrison and all over Ohio bookclubs and organizations have been creating programs to honor one of Ohio’s greatest writers and the first African American woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. Toni Morrison, author and editor, was born in Lorain, Ohio in 1931 and her novels and nonfiction works went on to win the Pulitzer Prize, the National Humanities Medal and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.  NOBS also wanted to celebrate her legacy so join us in this month’s forum either in person or via Zoom.  Please note registration for Zoom is required.

Dr. Gadsby is Chair of the Africana Studies Department at Oberlin College and Conservatory, where she teaches the literature of Africa and the African Diaspora.  She is the author of Sucking Salt: Caribbean Women Writers, Migration and the Politics of Identity (U Missouri Press).   Dr. Gadsby is member of the Toni Morrison Society and served as faculty liaison to the TMS when it was based at Oberlin College.  Originally from Queens, NY, she has lived in NE Ohio for 26 years.  Dr. Gadsby teaches a Toni Morrison Seminar at Oberlin, introduces her students to Morrison in her classes, and writes about her body of work extensively.
