Sponsored by The Ticknor Society
On Friday, January 20th, at 6pm ET, The Ticknor Society will host “Ticknor Collecting Prize: Preparing Your Entry,” a Zoom event open to all who are interested in, or even just curious about, how to craft a submission for this year’s George and Anna Eliot Ticknor Book and Book Culture Collecting Prize, opening March 1st. The purpose of this competition is to encourage New England-based book collectors to understand more deeply what their collection means to them, what they have collected, how it might be helpful to other collectors and researchers, and how they want their collection to develop in the future.
Why do you collect what you collect? What is the scope of your collection? What are your present and future goals? How can you best explain to others why it means so much to you? Preparing an entry for the Ticknor Collecting Prize is an opportunity to think about all of these things and more. Even if you don’t plan to enter, it’s a way to have fun with the books you love. Everyone is welcome to join the Zoom as we brainstorm together, get questions answered about format and technology, and, best of all, get to know other book enthusiasts! Join us on January 20th to help each other think it out and get started!
